Principle of Permissible Harm

Along with a nightclub and a couple other places that tint the interior of the whole building, through those huge glass panels..."

Nightripping - The Road to Colón.

Picture yourself in a car on a road. Not just any road. A one lane, totally flat and  featureless, apparently endless road. Travel for hours and hours. The world around you will surely change...

Red in Rio

A takeoff from Santos Dumont Airport is like a metaphor for some moments in life when everything must  go precisely as it's supposed to. A kind of miniature Kai Tak,  Rio´s downtown airport has one of the shortest runways for airports of its kind (over 5 million passengers per year) and is limited on its extremities by the sugar loaf and a huge bridge across the bay, which leads to thrilling takeoffs and approaches. Just like those moments when you´re rewarded with a wonderful experience if you just have what it takes.

Inspired by rhiz'hommes.

"Rhiz'hommes is an artistic project that aims to be a collective self-portrait of homoerotic masculinity.
Images that dialogues between self contemplation and sterile distance."

Idle, HIGH THRUST, Idle, Flare, Reverse...

On a seemingly infinite loop lately, thank god.
Dans un loop apparemment infinit récemment.

Bruce.

Let me share with you a page I love:

It takes a lot of sensibility to create that atmosphere by merely putting images together.
No words, just images.
And it´s simply great.
To whoever makes this, a big Hug.

Grincheux Series - Bruno

Even the most crowded beaches have their quiet moments...

Bruno and I were born in the same city. We both eventually moved to some other part of the country (actually, we live only a couple hours by car from each other). We had never met in person, however. During the last carnival it happened that we both went back to our hometown so I immediately proposed to make some pics to celebrate the meeting.

 These pics are the result.

Staring at Shadows

How much time have you spent staring at shadows, instead of what really matters?

Grincheux

 Alex, my first Grincheux
Alex, mon premier Grincheux
Alex, meu primeiro "Zangado"

To celebrate our first month up and running, I´m placing the first pic of the Grincheux series.
The idea for the series started shaping itself the moment I saw this mask on a small store in Paris that seemed to have a little bit of everything. Among old good times school supplies and way kitsch home décors, there it was, my "Grincheux" mask. I had been looking for something like that for a while and grabbed it right away!
It took a few months before I actually started shooting the series. The idea is to have it worn by many different men in all sorts of places and situations for a timespan of a few years. The idea behind the idea is to find out when the mask decaying process will drag more attention than the mask bearer.

Pra celebrar nosso primeiro mês no ar, a série Grincheux.

Douglas Prince - Self Portrait as a Dreaming Man.

A couple years ago I stumbled on this picture and it struck me immediately. It´s probably my all time favourite pic, for totally irrational reasons. I just love it, viscerally. I´m 300% happy because this week I finally identified its author, Douglas Prince (link at the bottom of this page). Now all I need to find out is where, if anywhere, there´s a copy to be sold.
The photo title evokes "Self Portrait as a Drowned Man", a photo (actually a series) which is full of history itself, shot by Hippolyte Bayard in 1840.

B.R.B. Gotta make a call.
Who could resist a street between an amusement park and a court of justice?

Good Night and Good Luck...

Cause we all could use a little bit of Edward Murrow now and then...
